As
a centre of excellence, the Mandela Institute undertakes research,
develops policy, and offers advanced teaching in global law
that is to say those areas of law that connect South Africa, and
the developing world, to the global world economy. These include
competition law, intellectual property law, banking law, company
law, telecommunications law, the development of appropriate regulatory
regimes, and international arbitration. The Mandela Institute
is working to create an enhanced legal framework and skills base
as a contribution to the wider goal of economic growth.
